Our Story

OUR STORY…

It all began with a change in plans. It could be said, many good things started that way.  Our family has been in ministry for many years. However, seasons of change can begin with the simplest nudging of the Lord and that is entirely true in our story. Over the last several years, we felt God preparing us for something new. There is always a time of preparation, it seems, before these shifts and we found ourselves diligently trying to stay in step with God’s plan and not our own desires. 

After all, we believe with all our hearts that God should not be a part of what we are doing, rather we are a part of what He is doing! And His timing is always worth waiting for. As we found ourselves at a pivotal point, we continued to pray about our future as a family and chose to create and offer an official prayer of petition to the Lord, asking for direction and believing God for certain ministry opportunities. Our petition was two-fold. First, we gave thanks for His faithfulness before claiming the biblical promises God had given us as a family.  The second portion was our commitment to God on how we would respond and prepare our hearts while we waited on Him. Within five weeks our petition was answered; a door was opened. So began the first steps toward a church plant in the DeWitt area.

Because of God’s incredible promise throughout this new phase of ministry, we thought it only fitting to name the church, Promise Assembly of God. When we first began in November of 2018, we met in a home on Williams Road (DeWitt). We are eternally thankful to the family who hosted us during this special time. Having outgrown their generous-sized home, we are now located at 206 W Washington St, DeWitt, MI 48820 (formerly the DeWitt Memorial Building). Services are every Sunday from 10:30am-12pm and each Wednesday evening at 7pm-8pm. Our heart’s desire is to love people into the family of God, so come as you are and expect a warm, friendly atmosphere where all ages are welcome. If the Lord nudges YOUR heart, perhaps you would consider becoming a part of our Promise family and even seeking the Lord on the part you could play in this new and exciting ministry endeavor with us! Together, we desire to reach our community and beyond with the Promise of the Good News.

“Watch and see,” is a word we received from the Lord. This message continues to be build our faith and push us to reach the community of DeWitt further and further. He continues to bless Promise and we continue to reach people more and more. You are welcome to be part of this story…
