Our Story

OUR STORY…

It all began with a change in plans, and many good things often start this way. Our family has been involved in ministry for many years, yet seasons of change can stem from the simplest nudging of the Lord, which is certainly true in our story. Over the past several years, we have felt God preparing us for something new. There always seems to be a time of preparation before these transitions, and we found ourselves diligently trying to align with God’s plan rather than our own desires.

We wholeheartedly believe that God should not merely be an addition to what we are doing; rather, we are a part of what He is doing! His timing is always worth the wait. As we reached a pivotal point, we continued to pray about our family's future and chose to create an official prayer of petition to the Lord, seeking direction and trusting Him for specific ministry opportunities. Our petition was two-fold. First, we expressed gratitude for His faithfulness before claiming the biblical promises God had given us as a family. The second part was our commitment to God, detailing how we would respond and prepare our hearts while waiting on Him. Within five weeks, our petition was answered, and a door was opened. Thus began our first steps toward establishing a church plant in the DeWitt area.

Given God’s incredible promise throughout this new phase of ministry, we deemed it fitting to name the church Promise Assembly of God. When we first began in November 2018, we met in a home on Williams Road in DeWitt. We are eternally grateful to the family who hosted us during this special time. After outgrowing their generously sized home, we are now located at 210 W Washington St, DeWitt, MI 48820 (formerly the DeWitt Memorial Building). Services are held every Sunday from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Our heart’s desire is to welcome people into the family of God, so come as you are and expect a warm, friendly atmosphere where all ages are welcome. Together, we aim to reach our community and beyond with the Promise of the Good News.

“Watch and see” is a word we received from the Lord. This message continues to build our faith and inspire us to reach the community of DeWitt further and further. He continues to bless Promise, and we are reaching more people every day. You are invited to be part of this story…
